So Thankful

In honor of Thanksgiving next week, I thought I’d dedicate today’s insight post to being grateful.  With life’s ups and downs, we often forget how truly lucky we are.  Most of us are loved, healthy, and relative to the world, incredibly wealthy.  According to the World Bank Development Research Group, the average yearly income for the entire world is $5,000.00.  So, if you make $25,400 per year, you are in the top 10 percent of the world; the top 5 percent if you make $33,700 annually, and the top 1 percent of the world if you pull in $47,500 per year.

So stop complaining already!  Give to those less fortunate and start compiling your gratitude list because there’s lots on there.  Here’s my short list:

I have the best parents in the world.  OK, I know many of us feel that way, but I definitely do.  I am so lucky to inherit fantastic genes (mom being beautiful and dad being brilliant, although mom is brilliant and dad is beautiful, too).  But more importantly, they have my back.  I always have a support system and there is freedom in knowing I am truly loved.

I have the best siblings.  I am so lucky to have both my sister and brother.  These are two of my very best friends for life.  Gorgeous, funny, generous, genius, successful, accomplished, amazing… I can go on and on with the positive adjectives to describe them.

OK, I just have the best family overall.  I have the best extended family, too.  All my aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews rock and truly make this world a more exciting and amazing place.  I’m looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving with my family on my Mom’s side for our first ever family reunion!  And of course, very thankful for Ry and Buster who are my family day in and day out!

I’m healthy!  After my crazy health ordeal last year, I am incredibly grateful for my health and my life.  We often take this for granted, but tomorrow is never promised to any of us, so live each day as if it could be your last.

I’m surrounded by wonderful friends.  I did something right along the way because I know some of the best, most generous, kind, loving, funny, smart, talented, successful, just overall amazing people that live on this planet and they are my friends!  How did I get so incredibly lucky?  I really am so grateful and thank you for your friendship!
