oc mart MIX in the House!

Invited by Macalistaire at 1850 (the eclectically beautiful vintage boutique I blogged about in early November for the grand opening of their second boutique at their new satellite space, I attended the new oc mart MIX "Sneak Peek Shopping Event" yesterday.  The oc mart MIX (www.theocmartmix.com) is a new retail destination featuring a vibrant gathering of vendors showcasing unique products and merchandise.  Sponsored by Greer’s OC, the launch event was designed to introduce consumers to its new lineup of stores – and raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.

And what a gorgeous event it was!  In addition to shopping the beautiful mix of vendors, guests were entertained with wine, sweets from B. Candy, Longboards ice cream, and Christopher Garrens, plus an art show, book signing, $10 haircuts benefiting JDRF by Paul Mitchell and gift bags worth lots of money for the first 100 who RSVP’d (unfortunately, I wasn’t one of them…darn!)

Located in the South Coast Collection – or SoCo – which encompasses more than 300,000 square feet of design showrooms and creative studios, the oc mart MIX definitely brings a fresh energetic vibe to the area.  In addition to Macalistaire at 1850, some of the other distinctive retailers are Ornate Home, Mixed Greens, Gatehouse and Paper House.  Check out the photos for some of their wares – just exquisite!  I spent time talking with many of the owners so I will definitely let you in on some of my “finds” in posts to come!   As billed on their site, “The oc mart MIX is the place to find that one-of-a-kind pillow or just the right olive oil for tonight’s dinner party.”

Thank you to the very lovely Rachiel Macalistaire and her team for inviting me!

There is nothing like it in Orange County.  I can’t wait for the grand opening!
