Today marks the start of the 22nd Annual Southern California Spring Garden Show at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA (http://springgardenshow.com/). Sorry fans for writing yet another regional post, but I’ve heard such great things about this show and I’m looking forward to checking it out and thought I’d let those who live in the area know about it, too. There will be over 75 specialty garden vendors offering exotic plants and unique garden accessories. Additionally, there will be garden landscapes designed by leading landscape architects and designers and exhibited throughout the first level of the Create and Barrel/Macy’s Home Store Wing. Organizations such as Orange Coast College Horticulture Club and Saddleback College Departments of Horticulture and Landscape Design will showcase their creativity and expertise. There will also be children’s events teaching kids about garden projects, arts and crafts, as well as an exotic bird show.
Moreover, if you get the chance, they’ve planned a nice series of seminars. This morning’s seminar on Global Gardening will feature an appearance by Australian horticulturist and landscape designer Jamie Durie. Jamie Durie is the television host of HGTV’s Outdoor Room, author of seven bestselling books and an expert who appears regularly on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Jamie will be providing a new light on the latest trends in garden design across the globe at 10am PST.
I’ve always appreciated a beautiful and well-kept garden. It adds so much to the aesthetic of a home when people think to add succulents or some exotic grass as part of their décor. Anyway, I’m sure the show will inspire me with multiple new ideas on how to contemporize and beautify the outside of my home. The show runs until May 1st.
