My Latest Website Obsession

My latest website obsession is Pinterest. What is Pinterest? It’s pretty much a virtual pinboard, or file cabinet. Once upon a time, you may have had a bulletin board and pinned up things you wanted or gave you inspiration. Now, you can do it virtually! With Pinterest, you can pin things you love from any site and put them on your online pinboards, which you can then share with friends.

The team behind the idea is a small software company of 7 people in Palo Alto, CA. Their goal is to connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting. With millions of new pins added every week, Pinterest is connecting people all over the world based on shared tastes and interests. Additionally, users can follow tastemakers to discover great new things.

It’s really easy to use. After you install the “Pin It” button, it adds a link to your Bookmarks Bar, and then you can grab an image from any website and add it to one of your pinboards. Pinterest captures this pin and automatically grabs the source link so they can credit the original creator, so you can have a nice ready reference.

People use the pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.  Personally, I have created the following boards: Baking Ideas, Apparel I Crave, Home Inspiration, Flowers and Garden, Quotes, Accessories I Want, Buster Toys, and Cool Stuff.

I love it! It’s such a great way to organize and keep track of things that inspire me. Right now it’s invite only, but let me know if you want an invite, and I’ll invite you!
