Fall Color Trends from the Pantone Institute

Now that September is here, it’s time to switch gears and pull out the Autumn shades! Nothing screams the change of seasons more than the textures and choice of colors that we start wearing!

Pantone, Inc., the world-renowned authority on color, provider of color systems and leading technology for accurate communication of color, recently released its Fall forecast. A little bit of background in case you’ve never heard of them or the term PMS… for more than 45 years, Pantone has been one of the trend houses responsible for inspiring design professionals within fashion, interiors, and other accessories.

According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute “Much like a painter’s masterpiece, there is a certain romance to this season’s palette.”

For Fall 2011, designers are paying close attention to texture, contrast, and color – pairing menswear with feminine twists, warm prints with cool metals, incorporating both old and new influences, and creating an intriguing balance between colors. Bamboo, raspberry wine and teal add pops of color to the neutral basics and steadfast shades.

Here are the “in” Fall shades. Don’t you love the palette?

Also, strangely enough, here is my latest T.I.L. Darling find, a retro circle dress that incorporates some of the Fall shades perfectly. I scored this dress for 70% off – originally $71, but I got it for only $17.75. I am telling you, there are amazing deals on that site right now, with sale items 50-90% off original prices. Note that any orders placed now will be shipped after September 29th upon their return from vacation.

Retro circle dress paired with Theory jean jacket.

I’ve obviously made it casual with my Rainbow flip-flops, but you can also dress it up.
