Elite Coffee Talk

This past weekend, Jax and I had a play date with my friend Anna and her son. It was a beautiful weekend here in the Algarve, and Saturday’s temps were almost in the 70s.

Just before our playground play date, we stopped by their house to check out their new Espresso maker. Both Anna and her husband Dean are coffee connoisseurs so I found it incredibly fascinating to hear all about the quality of their machine, a Rocket Espresso.

Rocket Espresso machines are not for amateurs. The whole system can set you back almost $10K! Literally, the best in coffee, for you coffee elitists out there.

According to their website, Rocket Espresso produces the finest espresso machines in the tradition of ‘Fatto a Mano’ translated to, ‘made by hand.’ Wow! Did you catch that – all machines made by hand!

After listening to Dean explain about the different copper metals, the fine-tuned pump pressure, and the infiltration system that is needed of a system to extract the flavors and oils to make the most perfect cup of coffee, I was seriously impressed and thought that more people would find this interesting, too. So, here I share!

Of course, I love coffee, but I am not even close to being that discriminating. My Keurig served me well in our home in Laguna Beach before our move here, but supposedly those Nespresso and Keurig machines are the death of fine coffee. I mean, those cups will just not tamp the coffee properly, and those machines do not even come close to delivering a perfect cup.

Food, or should I say, coffee, for thought.
